Path Dependency

Path dependency is a major worldbuilding theme. The first powerful solution a civilization finds can become the shape of its future stupidity.

Airawa Version

The Airawa Empire invented the Biological Memetic Engine and then increasingly solved every problem with biological persuasion, memory editing, heredity management, and network domination.

That does not mean the engine is useless. It means it is too useful. It eats alternative institutions before anyone notices those institutions would have been load-bearing.

Sa’auei’a Version

The Sa’auei’a developed around mobility, reproductive commons, and ecological reciprocity. Their path dependency is less totalitarian, but still real: fixed infrastructure, secrecy, and rapid centralized war-making are culturally difficult for them.

Comparative Use

Good conflicts should make each civilization strong where the other is blind.
