Sa’ueia

The Sa’ueia are the dominant intelligent species of the Sa’ueia Continent. They have a highly developed nomadic civilization. Most adults travel in squad-sized family units, carrying out the work of society as they move rather than gathering in permanent cities.

Wolves offer a loose comparison for the size of these groups and the way they move. That comparison has limits: it does not explain Sa’ueia biology or civilization.

Families and Breeding Grounds

A traveling family unit raises children, trains apprentices, makes things, defends its members, and negotiates with others. Kinship, craft, and diplomacy belong to the same mobile group.

These families also maintain ties to Breeding Grounds, which they treat as sacred commons. Infants, infirm members, caretakers, and rotating specialists stay at these sites while most adults circulate through the continent. The grounds are shared places, not private property, seats of ruling families, or nurseries controlled by an empire.

Relationships Across the Continent

As families travel, they make and renew agreements with the ecologies they visit. Those relationships depend on memory: a family’s past generosity can affect how it is received when it returns.

The partners involved include feeding sites, medicinal groves, migratory herds, reef analogues, pollinator corridors, and defensive organisms. Sa’ueia politics therefore extends beyond relations among Sa’ueia themselves. A family’s prestige depends on these ecological partners remembering it as generous.

The strongest families are those that can return after years away and still be recognized as beneficial. Their standing rests on relationships that survive their absence, rather than on their ability to seize territory.
